The Election Commission of India has announced by-elections for four Rajya Sabha seats in Jammu and Kashmir, which have been vacant since February 2021, and one seat in Punjab, which became vacant after an AAP MP resigned. Polling and counting for all five seats are scheduled for October 24. The ECI will hold three separate elections for the Jammu and Kashmir seats, as the vacancies fall under different cycles.
